ALLAHABAD: Several seminars, awareness programmes and competitions were held in Agra, Jhansi and Allahabad divisions of North Central Railway (NCR) during the Vigilance Awareness Week celebrated from October 28 to November 2.
The programme commenced with a pledge against corruption taken by NCR general manager Alok Johri and other railway employees. A seminar on ‘Promoting good governance-positive contribution by vigilance’ was organised in GM NCR office at Allahabad. Allahabad High Court judge Vineet Saran attended the function as chief guest which was presided over by Johri. The eleventh edition of vigilance bulletin ‘Jagriti’ was also released on the occasion by NCR. Saran expressed his views on the occasion and exhorted NCR officials to abide by the law.
During the vigilance awareness week, NCR employees were encouraged to establish the norms of ‘good governance’ by ensuring availability of information, transparency in working and timely grievance redressal. The vigilance awareness week was also observed at Central Organization for Railway Electrification (CORE). Various progarmmes were organized during the week to create awareness among the officers and the employees.
On November 1, prize distribution ceremony was organised in presence of chief vigilance officer of CORE Raj Narayan. Chief guest on the occasion, general manager of CORE distributed prizes to the winners of different events. Vote of thanks was proposed by deputy chief vigilance officer Nishchal Srivastava.
Earlier, CORE GM Jagdev Kalia administered pledge to the railway employees for working honestly and fighting against corruption. A vigilance seminar was also organized. Further, essay, cartoon and slogan competition was organised on November 30. Quiz and debate was organised on November 31 among the staff.
