Suresh Prabhu inaugurates ATVM machines at Jodhpur

Jodhpur Jn (JU): Union Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu today inaugurated the facility of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) at Jodhpur railway station.

Eleven ATVM machines, aimed at decongesting the ticket counters at the railway stations in these towns, have been set up at all the 4 rail division at Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, and Bikaner along with an escalator at Jodhpur railway station.

Prabhu, while addressing the gathering at the railway station post-inauguration ceremony, said that for the first time, the central and state government of Rajasthan will be forming a joint company for the expansion of the rail facilitates and infrastructure.

“Dialogue has taken place with the state government regarding formation of a new company and now both the governments will work together for implementation of projects, elimination of rail related problems, expansion of rail facilities and network,” he said.

Underlining the tourist significance of the state, Prabhu said that a new tourism policy will be framed soon which will be aimed at harnessing state’s tourism potential.

However, issues like direct link between two tourist hot-spots of Jodhpur and Udaipur and freight corridor did not find any mentioning in his address.

Jodhpur-Udaipur rail link is a long pending demand.

Similarly, he did not say anything about the issues of Jodhpur bypass and Barmer-Jaisalmer direct link, which are of utmost strategic significance.

In absence of these routes, the army contingent and artillery has to move through a longer route.

E-Token system for physically-challenged launched at Jodhpur Railway Station

Jodhpur (JU): The physically-challenged people will now get benefits similar to the ones availed by women and senior citizens with regard to tatkal railway reservations at the Jodhpur railway station. An electronic token (e-token) determining the standing of the disabled in the queue will be provided to such people from April 14, Tuesday with Jodhpur being the first such station to start such a system.

To avail this benefit, the beneficiaries will have to register themselves on the website – www.jodhpurrailsuvidha.com, informed Gopal Sharma, Public Relations Officer for Northwest Railways.

The tatkal ticket through this system will be available a day before the journey date between 10 am and 5 pm after applying for it online. The e-token will be made available through a computer software system and will be intimated to the concerned person between 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm through a mobile message on the day the application is made. Only 10 such tokens will be granted per day. Based on these, the person can stand in a queue the next morning once tatkal reservations begin.

The beneficiaries will have to provide a copy of their photo identity card and the details of their journey for this purpose. The SMS sent by the railways will also have to be produced at the time of booking a ticket at the window. Also, the person who has made the online application will himself/herself have to be present at the window for making the booking

NWR explore Solar & Windmill Power Generation through PPP Model for proposed Electrification

Jaisalmer (JSM): North Western Railways is exploring solar and windmill power generation through public-private partnership (PPP) for the proposed electrification of routes in Marwar region.

“Railways has developed an action plan for power supply in next five years with private partnership for setting up 1,000 Mw solar power project and 25 Mw windmill plant,” said Railway board member, Naveen Tandon, while talking on Wednesday. Tandon is in Jaisalmer on a personal visit. Railways has sanctioned electrification of routes in Jaisalmer, Lalgarh, Phalodi and Bhildi.

Tandon said railway’s associate company RITES has formed a new company Railway Energy Management Company (REMC). This new company will invite tenders from private people and industrialists for setting up solar plant, which will sell power to railways on cheaper rates. An MoU will be signed to buy power continuously for 25 years. The railways has started working on an action plan to set up 25Mw windmill power project between Jaisalmer and Jodhpur,” he added.

Tandon said govt’s priority is to cut down the fuel expenses. At present Rs 20,000 crore is spent by railways on diesel and Rs 10,000 crore on electricity. Electrification of maximum tracks will be started. Last year, rail department had saved Rs 300 crore with electrification works, he said.

Tondon said the electrification of rail lines has started with the help of advanced techniques. Work has been started to build 200 new rail engines of 9,000 horsepower each with assistance from Japanese firm Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Thirty engines will be imported from Japan, whereas all parts of 70 engines will be imported from Japan

1100 Pakistanis enter Munabao by Thar Express without NWR Jodhpur Divn’s knowledge

मुनाबाव Munabao (MBF): In the Thar Express that arrived in Munabao on Saturday, 1,100 passengers came from Pakistan without Jodhpur rail division officers’ knowledge.

The officials had to somehow attach an additional coach from Barmer to Munabao and even RPF, GRP, custom and other security agencies had to face a lot of problems arranging security and after 11 hours of delay, the train on Sunday morning left for Bhagat ki Kothi and passengers too had to face a lot of problems.

According to reliable sources, 1,137 passengers came to India on Saturday by Thar Express from Pakistan and Indian railway officers had to face problems as they did not have any information about such a huge crowd coming in.

Generally, Thar Express from Bhagat ki Kothi to Munabao has nine coaches and can accommodate 600-700 passengers. This Friday, 428 passengers left for Pakistan in the train, whereas 437 passengers were coming from Pak to India. In such a situation, accommodating such a huge crowd coming from beyond the border in nine coaches became a problem for the Jodhpur rail division officers.

Sources said the entire system of the number of passengers that can travel via this train has been implemented effectively by India. Passengers going to Pakistan are given computerized tickets and their numbers are also kept in control, unlike the management in Pakistan.

Passengers coming from Pakistan are given manual tickets and there is even no control on the number. In the history of Thar Express that started in 2006, it is the second time, when the number of passengers coming from Pak has crossed 1,000.

While confirming the problems faced due to 1,100 passengers, DRM Rajiv Sharma said there was no information from Pak about so many passengers and when we got to know, the train had reached Munabao.

He said that on behalf of the central government, seven general coaches have been sanctioned for the train and with the increase in passenger load, the government had approved additional two coaches.

Confirming this, senior division railway security commissioner Ashish Mishra said strict security arrangements had to be made at Munabao railway station due to such a huge rush and all passengers were thoroughly checked.

Halt for Jodhpur-Karachi Thar Express emerge as Electoral Issue in Rajasthan

Munabao (MBF): A halt for the Jodhpur-Karachi Thar Express here has emerged as one of the main electoral issues as two lakh residents having family or business ties with Pakistan want easy boarding point for the cross-border train.

Thar Express that runs between Jodhpur and Karachi is the only means for people to travel to Pakistan from this remote Rajasthan district, having a total of 16 lakh voters.

Though Munabao, the last point on the Indian side of the border, is approximately 140 km from here, people wanting to visit Pakistan have to board the train from Jodhpur which is 200 km away in opposite direction. The train stops at Munabao only for customs and immigration checking.

Even from the station here, people cannot board or deboard.

People looking to visit Karachi have to first reach Bhagat ki Kothi station in Jodhpur nearly six hours prior to the departure of the train.

At the station, checking of luggage and travel documents is done after which doors of the train are locked. The train starts at 1 AM and via Barmer reaches Munabao at 7 AM after which it enters Pakistan at the zero point station from where the onward journey to Karachi continues.

According to estimates, nearly two lakh people live in the areas around Barmer who have either migrated here from Pakistan or have family ties there.

The train service was stopped after the 1965 war with Pakistan before recommencing in 2005. It is the lifeline for Sindhi and Muslim community members who have strong family, religious and business ties across the border.

Congress MP Harish Chaudhary had promised the community he would ensure a stop for Thar Express at Barmer and Munabao for which Muslims supported him. But his failure in fulfilling that promise may go against him in this election.

But the issue may help the chances of rebel BJP leader Jaswant Singh, who is credited with getting the train service reopened.

“Although the train was actually flagged off when Lalu Prasad was the Railway Minister during UPA-I. But we know it was the efforts of Singh which bore fruit,” said Bhawani Shankar Sharma, a businessman.

Case file of Molestation by the Sr.DCM/JU recalled by PHQ

Jodhpur (JU): The case file of alleged molestation of a women employee of Railways by the then Sr.Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr.DCM) of Jodhpur Division Mr.R.P.Meena, has been recalled from the investigating officer by the department headquarters reportedly on the influence of the accused.

A senior police officer here has confirmed that the file has been sent to the police headquarters.

“We are awaiting further directions from the headquarters, which will decide whether to continue the investigation with the existing investigation officer, change the officer or shift the investigation to the CID(CB),” the officer said.

Investigation officer, Chanchal Mishra, who had handled the infamous Asaram sexual exploitation case as the investigating officer and had arrested him from his ashram in Madhya Pradesh in just 10 days, had earlier said, “We sent teams in Meena’s search, after he did not appear for interrogation despite summons, at all possible locations he could be, but he remained untraceable.

“After the teams were rushed to search him, Meena had intimated that he was unwell and would appear for interrogation on regaining his health,” the officer had said. But before further steps could be taken to tighten noose around him, the file was recalled by the police HQ. According to the police sources, the move is the result of Meena’s influence.

On the other hand, Meena himself, while pleading innocence, has refuted the allegations and has said he never ran away from the case and always wanted a fair investigation from police. While referring to the entire case as a “frame up”, Meena said, “I took disciplinary action against a large number of defaulting employees, who were also members of railway unions and they are annoyed with me,” Meena said, adding that such employees launched a campaign against him.

Referring to his transfer, Meena said the employees he had taken action were behind his transfer from Jodhpur. He also held the police responsible for the inaction on his complaints against these them. “It was entirely an episode to get me transferred from Jodhpur. But still I am ready to cooperate in the investigation,” Meena claimed.

Sr.DCM/JU accused of molestation on the run

Jodhpur (JU): R.P.Meena, Sr.Divisional Commercial Manager, facing allegations of sexual harassment from a female railway employee, continues to evade police. Meena had been summoned by the police to appear before the investigating officer on Friday last week, but he disregarded the summon.

“We also had sent a team in search of Meena at both his residence and office in Jaipur but he was not available at any of the places,” police said. Now, the police have received a tip off about his whereabouts and now preparing to rush teams at these destinations to arrest him. Officials said Meena has been trying every method possible to evade the police.

Meena, who had been transferred to Jaipur on posted as Presiding Officer at the Railway Claims Tribunal, immediately after the filing of complaint against him, has not yet joined duty. According to a senior police officer, Meena has been using his clouts in the bureaucracy to influence the investigation and evaded the police.

When the CPRO (North Western Railway) Tarun Kumar Jain was contacted to confirm whether Meena was on leave or absent without leave, he expressed ignorance and said he was out and not in touch with the railway affairs.

Meena has been booked under sections 376, 354 A/B and 341 of IPC. Police have also recorded the statements of the victim but has not yet been able to get him for investigation. “The police, which had wasted no time in rushing teams to arrest Asaram when he jumped the summons, has not yet been able to find any clue of Meena”, argued the victim adding that the police is working under pressure.

Railway official accused of Molestation transferred

Jodhpur (JU):  R P Meena, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr.DCM) of the Jodhpur Division of North Western Railways, who has been facing the charges of outraging the modesty of a female employee in his department, has been transferred by the railway authorities.

Railway authorities confirmed Meena’s transfer to the Rail Claims Tribunal at Jaipur following an order from R C Agarwal, GM, North Western Railway, two days back. He was sent on leave by the department for 15 days and before he came back, he was transferred.

A female railway ticket and reservation clerk had accused Meena of molestation and harassment. She had filed a complaint with the police on December 23 and had sought action against him.

On the other hand, Jodhpur police has issued him notice to appear before the police for interrogation by Friday. “He has not yet appeared before the investigating officer and instead sent a written submission terming the complaint of molestation by the employee as a conspiracy against him. We have now shot off a notice asking him to appear before the investigating officer till Friday,” said a police official.

The official added that if Meena failed to appear in the stipulated time, a police team will be sent to arrest him. “We have given adequate time to him and he can not be allowed to escape the investigation,” said the official.

Jodhpur Railway Employee accuses Sr.DCM/JU of Molestation

Jodhpur Jn (JU) NWR: A middle-aged woman railway employee, working as a reservation-cum-booking clerk on the Jodhpur Division of North Western Railway (NWR), has accused a Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr.DCM) of the same division of NWR of harassing her for a period of over one year, police said today.

The woman lodged a complaint with police yesterday, and sought action against the accused, R P Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajay Pal Lamba said.

“We have registered a case under sections 341 (for wrongful restraint), 354 A & B (Assault to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC against the accused, and have initiated a preliminary inquiry,” Lamba said.

“He had been trying every move to get close to me, and also sent objectionable SMSs and MMSs (from Mobile Number 9001198950), which I tolerated for long as I could not muster the courage to file a police complaint against him,” said the employee, who lives here alone.

The employee alleged that she had been constantly being harassed by Meena for about a year.

The railway authority, following a departmental inquiry, has sent Meena on leave for 15 days.

HC summons North Western Railway’s DRM

JODHPUR : The Rajasthan high court on Wednesday summoned the divisional rail manager of North Western Railway’s Jodhpur division on Wednesday for not cooperating in the construction of three over bridges and under passes. This is the second time in a week that the court has pulled him up. Earlier, the court had taken a serious note of the dilly dallying in construction of an over bridge on Sangria by-pass by the railways.

The division bench comprising Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice Arun Bhansali warned DRM Rajendra Jain of stern action for not being cooperative in the matters of public interest and for interrupting the development process while hearing a PIL on the city’s traffic condition, encroachment and sanitation. The bench advised him to act as a public servant and facilitate the developmental work.

Following the court intervention, an agreement has been between the general manager (NWR) and the state’s chief secretary to resolve a land dispute.

Construction of two ROBs and one RUB is under progress at Bhadwasia, Khatarnak Pulia and Paota respectively in the city. But owing to the land issue and huge price by the railway for the land, the railway administration had virtually made the city administration to stop the work.

The railway is demanding the cost of the land as per the market rate. Earlier, the railways had demanded Rs 9.32 crore by writing a letter to the administration on April 24 but revised it to Rs 14 crore on May 4 as per the market rate, which the administration was reluctant to pay. Upon non-resolution of the matter, the railways refused to hand over its land for construction of the bridges and the work at all three sites stopped.

The court also took serious note of the absence of the DRM in the meeting called by UDH secretary G S Sandhu on Tuesday and the attitude of the DRM in the previous meetings, when it was brought to the notice of the court by the amicus curies appointed by the court.

जोधपुर स्टेशन पर लगेगा एस्केलेटर, सभी क्रॉसिंग पर आरयूबी

जोधपुर: जोधपुर रेलवे स्टेशन पर यात्रियों की सुविधा के लिए एस्केलेटर (स्वचालित सीढ़ियां) लगाया जाएगा। पहले चरण में जयपुर में यह सुविधा शुरू की गई है। अब अजमेर व जोधपुर में एस्केलेटर लगाने का प्रावधान किया गया है।

जोधपुर रेल मंडल से जुड़े क्षेत्रों के सांसदों के साथ उत्तर-पश्चिम रेलवे जोन के महाप्रबंधक आरसी अग्रवाल व उच्च अधिकारियों की बुधवार को जोधपुर में बैठक हुई। बैठक में महाप्रबंधक ने बताया कि मानव रहित फाटकों पर दुर्घटनाएं रोकने के लिए वहां आरयूबी बनाए जा रहे हैं। जोन में 102 आरयूबी बन चुके हैं। सांसद बद्रीराम जाखड़ ने जोधपुर स्टेशन के बाहर पार्किग की समस्या बताते हुए कहा कि वाहन निकालने में ही यात्री के 15 से 20 मिनट खराब होते हैं।

स्टेशन पर साफ-सफाई ढंग से नहीं होती। जाखड़ ने जोधपुर कैंट व राईकाबाग स्टेशनों पर प्रमुख ट्रेनों का ठहराव करने, गोटन स्टेशन की व्यवस्थाओं को सुधारने और पाली में रेल सुविधाओं का विस्तार करने की मांग की। सांसद रामसिंह कास्वा ने जोधपुर-दिल्ली सराय रोहिल्ला वाया डेगाना ट्रेन को नियमित कर इसे दिल्ली तक बढ़ाने और सुजानगढ़ स्टेशन के प्लेटफॉर्म को हाई लेवल करने की बात कही। सांसद अर्जुन मेघवाल ने आरयूबी के कार्य में तेजी लाने, ट्रेनों में जनरल कोच बढ़ाने और लाडनूं को आदर्श स्टेशन बनाने का सुझाव दिया।

व्हील व बियरिंग शॉप का उद्घाटन

महाप्रबंधक ने गुरुवार को रेलवे वर्कशॉप में नवनिर्मित रोलर बियरिंग शॉप व व्हील शॉप का भी उद्घाटन किया। इस दौरान मंडल रेल प्रबंधक राजेंद्र जैन, मुख्य यांत्रिक अभियंता रमेश कुमार, मुख्य कारखाना प्रबंधक विनीत कुमार सक्सेना व जोन के अन्य अफसर मौजूद थे।

आठ सांसदों को बुलाया, तीन ही आए

जोधपुर रेल मंडल के विकास और यात्री सुविधाओं पर चर्चा करने के लिए रेलवे ने मंडल से जुड़े संसदीय क्षेत्रों के आठ सांसदों को आमंत्रित किया था, लेकिन तीन ही आए। जोधपुर की बात रखने के लिए केंद्रीय मंत्री व जोधपुर सांसद चंद्रेश कुमारी व बाड़मेर सांसद हरीश चौधरी मौजूद नहीं थे। सांसद चौधरी ने बताया कि वे समय-समय पर रेलवे को अपने सुझाव व प्रस्ताव भेजते रहते हैं। डीआरएम ऑफिस में हुई इस बैठक में सांसद कम रेलवे के अफसर ज्यादा थे। बैठक में मौजूद तीन सांसदों ने अपने क्षेत्र से जुड़ी समस्याएं बताईं।

अब नहीं अटकेंगी मालगाड़ियां

राईकाबाग से जैसलमेर की ओर जाने वाली मालगाड़ियां अब महामंदिर से पहले चढ़ाई पर नहीं अटकेंगी। रेलवे ने राईकाबाग में इंटरलॉकिंग व कलर लाइट सिग्नल प्रणाली से ट्रेनों का संचालन शुरू कर दिया है। उत्तर-पश्चिम रेलवे जोन के महाप्रबंधक आरसी अग्रवाल ने गुरुवार को इस सिस्टम का उद्घाटन किया। अभी तक मालगाड़ियों में दो इंजन लगाकर उन्हें महामंदिर से पहले चढ़ाई पार करवाई जाती थी। इस दौरान कई पैसेंजर ट्रेनों को दूसरे स्टेशनों पर इंतजार करना पड़ता था।
