Gorakhpur railway station’s remodelling in final stage

GORAKHPUR: Remodelling work is in the final stages at Gorakhpur railway station. North Eastern Railway general manager KK Atal said that yard modelling at Gorakhpur station has reached its final stage.

Non-interlocking work will be completed in July. The up trains will pass through platform number 4 and down trains will pass through platform 6. During the analysis of progress work of remodeling, he said, “We should be careful of passenger’s convenience “. “We should focus on quality and make no compromise of safety measures.” He advised the officials. He also discussed and took consent of officials on each point and gave suggestions to them.

Traffic issues related to short termination, cancellation and route diversion were also discussed in the review meeting. Atal also discussed strategies to minimize the time-limit of non-interlocking, keeping the convenience of passengers in view. During interlocking, four points would be inserted and 10 dismantled. As many as 26 new points would be installed in pre-interlocking phase and 14 dismantled.

Fifty six new points are to be installed, whereas 31 are already inserted. There would be 137 points after remodeling. With the completion of remodeling work Gorakhpur railway station would have four extra running lines, three new platforms and new cabway platform.

After remodeling, there will be independent railway lines for ART and SPRM. The third foot overbridge (FOB) would be constructed by 2014.
